Although the world we knew prior to COVID-19 has changed, many things remain the same. Food insecurity happens to be one of them. September is “Hunger Action Month” and a good opportunity to remember our neighbors who continue to struggle with hunger.

According to our community partner Feeding Tampa Bay, many of those struggling with food insecurity are working adults, the elderly and children. In fact, the organization’s website states that “many at-risk students won’t eat at all between lunch on Friday and breakfast Monday morning.” During the school week, many of these students struggling with hunger may have access to a free breakfast and lunch, but over the weekend, access to meals may become even more limited.

For us at Mosaic, this is unacceptable. That’s why we proudly support several non-profit organizations, including All Faiths Food Bank, Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon, Feeding Tampa Bay, KidsPACK-Polk County and One More Child, who are committed to helping put an end to childhood hunger.

With support from Mosaic and local residents, these organizations can continue providing weekend food backpacks to students in need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Visit any of the following websites to see how you can help:
